WELCOME!!!
INTRODUCTION!
My name is steven da silva, and i decided to do my research on the glow stick industry because i always wanted to know what glow sticks are made of. Knowing alot of ginos and ginas glow sticks are very popular at clubs and raves. Alot of people like doing light shows with glow sticks. Glow sticks come in many different shapes, sizes and colours.
Agriculture:The production of crops or livestock for food or to provide raw materials for industry.
AGRICULTURE!(primary)
Glow sticks are made of three chemicals called hydrogen peroxide, phenyl oxalate ester, and a fluorescent dye. Knowing that these are all chemicals, they still come from the agriculture industry. Hydrogen peroxide is made of gas and bleaching agent. Fluorescent dye is made of disodium salt colour is added. I couldn’t find what phenyl oxalate ester was made of. Most of these chemicals will only be sold in drug stores. Salt is a mineral and it is found in the water. Salt is found in the ocean, it will not be found in the lake/river. Salt is an interesting product if you new what the process was in making/gathering salt. All these chemicals are made of minerals. Minerals are rocks and things that are found under ground. When all the products have been specialized, they are turned into chemicals then the chemicals are then sent to the manufacturing services.
Manufacturing! (Secondary)
Manufacturing: To make or process goods, especially in large quantities and by means of industrial machines.
When chemicals reach the factory it is then carefully removed from the truck if hydrogen peroxide falls on metal, it may cause an explosion it depends on what kind of metal. If a large amount of hydrogen peroxide falls on someone’s skin, it may put them in the hospital or even in the morgue. Then the chemicals are placed in separate glass tubes. Then one chemical is placed in a plastic tube half way, and then it is covered with a one tenth of a centimetre thick. Then the other two products are filled the other half of the way. Then it is toped up with a cap. When process is finished, it gets packed into boxes than it will be sent to companies, which is the service industry. Manufacturing companies are usually located in developing countries. In the manufacturing business, they use machines. One thing that is bad are most manufacturing companies create a lot of polution. Services! (Tertiary)
Services:
When companies receive the products, they then put them in the market. In order to get glow sticks you would have to buy it from stores. IN the service industry, they do not make products they sell them. Some services are run by the government. In some countries there are more opportunities of working because of the services industry is larger. Some services are built to help other businesses like laundry companies help restaurants with cleaning their uniforms.
INFORMATION ON MY PRODUCT!
There are three different types of chemicals typically found inside a glow stick. These chemicals are hydrogen peroxide, phenyl oxalate ester, and a fluorescent dye. The hydrogen peroxide and phenyl oxalate ester are the light producing chemicals, while the fluorescent dye determines the color of the light. So if, for instance, the dye is pink, the glow stick will emit a pinkish hue.so what happens is when the lightstick is bent, the thin-walled glass tube breaks and its contents mix with the solution outside. Then, the H2O2 reacts with the phenyl oxalate ester:During the reaction, an intermediate forms that transfers energy to the dye molecules. The energized dye molecules release this energy as visible light. The process in which energy from a chemical reaction is released directly as light is called chemiluminescence.
